Quick Overview

MographAE is a ScriptUI panel intended to make it easier to quickly create complex animations. The panel allows you to create three main types of objects:

  1. Cloners
  2. Field Effector
  3. Effectors

Things to be aware of 🚨

If you find that the script slows down your viewport, try turning off guides. When an animation is expression heavy, having guides on effectively means that AE must calculate expressions twice

When you bake keyframes, it’ll bake beyond the work area, so it’s best to Ctrl+Shift+X / Command+Shift+X to crop to the work area before baking

It also gives you access to four main helper scripts to manage MographAE layers:

  1. 🔗 Link
  2. 🔗 Unlink
  3. ☑️ Select
  4. 📄 Copy
  5. 📁 Organize
  6. ❄️ Clean
  7. 💾 Bake

Cloners (Green)

Clicking on any of the green buttons will create a Null object with different controls, which will automatically link to any layers selected before clicking the button. If the layers have separate dimensions turned on, it will switch separate dimensions off. If you click on one of these buttons with only one layer selected, it will duplicate the layer.

All cloners override the position and rotation values of linked layers entirely, and arrange them in a set formation. A cloner will position its linked layers based on the linked layers’ index in the timeline. Note: Cloners don’t dynamically update layers, they only duplicate them on the initial creation. So if you change the dimensions to require more layers, you will have to duplicate them manually. There are three types of cloners:

  1. Grid
  2. Array
  3. Linear

Every cloner has three tabs:

  1. Transform Settings
  2. Delay Settings
  3. Scatter Settings
